Techniques in Lead
The Oak Tree Stained Glass Studio of Wilmington, Delaware, presents Learning to Lead from studio artist/designer and owner, Rob Torres. This CD-ROM tutorial contains three projects, including "Diamonds," the Beginner project presented in the Spring 2003 issue of Glass Patterns Quarterly. Crafter's who have a basic knowledge of working with art glass can learn the techniques for completing projects with the use of lead.

Yours free to download and print. An easy and fun project for the beginner and advanced glass crafter's.

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know I read about the Gryphon Studio Cutter in your section called On The Table. It sounded so great, I had to have one. I have ordered it from your company, along with a few other items. I must say, your prices on glass are terrific. I ordered two of the Wissmach 8 packs. I look forward to doing more business with you in the future.
Thank you,
Lorie

Hi Rob,

I just talked to you a few minutes ago about making a pattern for this picture. As you can see it does not have a hoop or basket. My son's name is spelled out across the top. Are letters very hard to do? I'm really interested in the picture with the ball. You could make the background out of whatever, maybe iridescent glass. I would like it to be no larger than 18" x 24". Or as close as you can get. If it is slightly larger it will still be okay. "NaDine"

NaDine sorry for the delay I am usually prompt with my requests. Hope this suites your needs; if so send a check for $10.00 which includes shipping. You will receive 2 patterns; each will have numbers to cut glass with, 115 pieces. I used a charcoal gray for the body only so you could see the detail cut lines. You can of course use the black glass if you prefer.

NaDine Answer after viewing the jpeg of the pattern for proofing.

I am more than pleased. You should see the look on my son's face. You are my pattern designer for life. I am so happy. Your check is in the mail. You really laid that out. I cannot wait to show my friends and family. I can't praise you enough. We are ecstatic!

Hi Rob.....it was so exciting to see my new window on the internet....wow, I feel famous.....it is so beautiful, and I have gotten so many compliments on the workmanship....You truly did a lovely job.....Thank you again.....maybe I'll do another in another room one day......take care.....sincerely, teri.... see Spotlight 6

I like your website and how you encourage use of your free stained glass patterns. One of the most frustrating things I find about stained glass is finding a pattern that I like enough to devote hours to making and to hang in my home. So far I have only used one of your patterns - being GEO -2 number 12. It was exactly what I was looking for. I have received a lot of compliments on that piece. I look forward to making more use of your site in the future.

Sincere thanks.

Rob, we are very happy with the panels. We did see the web site spotlight on
the windows and thought it was great. You should really consider having an
article done for Delaware Today to showcase your work....
but before you advertise and get too busy......we definitely want to have the other top 2 windows done .....we're going to
need your ideas for the design....the only things we are sure of is that we
want the border to match the top window and that we want an occasional jewel
in them.....

Hi!

I am looking to make a baby present for my best friend, are there any patterns that can help me. Thank you for allowing your patterns to be printed out. Thank you for your time and effort in this matter.

Hi,
oaktree studios just like to say thank you for such a wonderful web site full of stunning designs I have looked though the whole of free patterns on the web, and nothing comes as near to yours keep up the good work. I have been doing stained glass for about 4 years now and i am really enjoying it, starting a mirror very soon for a drummer in a rock band as a gift he wanted a wolf
howling at the moon as he was living on a reservation as a child in the states going to put his nick name in the bottom mitred edge lone wolf ,

thanks again
regards Dave

I just wanted to let you know that I think your OaktreeSG website is, by far, the best stained glass website that I have ever found. I just love it and am very happy that I happened to find it! THANKS, AGAIN - you're doing a fabulous job!

Thank you very much for your setup of your web site. I have been to many other sites and have been unable to navigate but yours is wonderful. The site map made it very easy for me to find what I was looking for and to just browse. I especially enjoyed the reviews of the pattern software. I have been looking for such information and yours was an excellent description of your expertise and what the programs could do for every software users ability. Thanks again. I will be watching your site and ordering supplies I'm sure you will only get better.

I was intrigued by the advertisement found in Glass Patterns Quarterly, but found it difficult to continue viewing the site due to all the grammatical errors. You really should take the time to edit this website for correct grammar and word usage; it detracts from the overall good design of the site and may prohibit the sale of products.

Marianne____________________

Our response: Yes you are right about the grammar.

Marianne, hello

Sorry to hear your sense of proper grammar prevents you from viewing my site. In life there are compromises. I am not so interested in just selling goods as I am in drawing new people into this craft. This statement is backed up by the volume of information contained on my site. While I am in need of punctuation and grammar corrections, my point gets across. In fact, the general public decides our outcome by the website's stats; we receive about one million hits per month. Most people view my site and retrieve the information they seek. Now if they can get past the all the mistakes, they may get some useful tips or gain insight on Stained Glass. It sounds as if your world may become quite narrow and confining, given your outlook and decision not to continue and explore to find the good rather than focus on correcting the bad work of others. Please don’t take my view to heart as we share in this open forum "The Internet". On a last note, while my prices may not be the absolute lowest, we try to pass on savings, and to be honest we really don’t make out all that well on the internet sales. Selling supplies and glass is more of a courtesy rather than a living. I love to share ideas and designs with others. Out of all the sites that sell goods, try to find some that can balance both sales and content in our league.

I would like very much to hear back from you and take in your observations and suggestions on the grammar. I only hope you can get through this message.

Hi,
I received the shipment today...(just getting a little anxious... :) I just loaded the CD and I like the content very much....So I think I'm good to go for now...Just wanted to let you know I did price shopping on the net and found your prices to be the lowest..So I will keep your website available and buy from you as needed....We don't have a local shop, Thank you for replying right away...I appreciate that!! Do you have a mailing list/catalog??? If you do put me on it! Thanx, Torey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is Chris - I've been at your shop a couple of times with my girlfriend
Jen to buy glass and supplies. I was telling you about the Poinsettia sun
catcher I was making and you told me to send you a picture to be put on the
web site. Jen made a patriotic sun catcher that I'm also sending a picture
of.

The pictures might have a little glare. If you think I should send a
different picture, let me know please.

I would like to return the "Beginnings CD" that I just purchased. From the
web site I thought it was a updated version of one I got earlier. If you
check your records you will see that I have purchased 2 of the same. I do
not want the money back but a credit for future purchase from your site. I
am just starting out and have found your site to have the best information
for me. Please advise as to how to return my recent mistake.

I want to compliment you on the outstanding form and function of your website. It is practical, esthetically pleasing and navigates easily.
What is most important is the way you address your customers and visitors with respect. This is a very well produced and managed site, in my learned opinion, and I again take the time to send my compliments and wish you all great success. Job well done.
Sincerely, Michele Fox

Hi Rob

Just a line to say I received the Beginnings CD at the end of July. Many thanks for the free tote bag and patterns.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE
STAINED GLASS EFFORT. I HAVE TO COMMENT ON YOUR WEB PAGE. IT IS OUTSTANDING
AND IF YOU DID IT YOUR SELF, IT IS AN EXCELLENT EFFORT! CARL T.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Terry / Rob,
Thank you for pointing that out & catching that so quickly. Please void the order out with the blue glass on the lamp kit, I'd like the amber kit. I believe that may be why it was duplicated. Thank you.
Nick

You guys are awesome! You really don't need to ship until you receive the check and everything. The center doesn't open until August and frankly I don't have a lot of space right now to store everything. The check should have gone out Friday, or will go out today, so you should receive it this week. So, we will be very happy to receive everything when it does come. Thank you very much for your willingness to work with us.

Perhaps you would like to hear how we happened upon your business? I'm not sure if you looked up our website - www.sweetser.org but we are an organization serving the mental health needs of both children and adults. However the center that I will be running is for adults. The focus is for it to be run by peers. Meaning we will look at crisis and recovery in a new way, we will value peer support as much as we value professional support. We have been training a group of peers and they have been offering peer respite to those in times of crisis. That will continue when the center opens, but we will also have an arts center. One of our members expressed an interest in stained glass art. We set her up with a mentor. She now knows how to do the whole thing and will teach classes. She went "shopping" on the net, found your website and determined you offered the best value!

Thanks again,
Kelly Staples

I received everything today - you guys are awesome! We won't be in the center for another month . .. but plan on many more orders from us! Thank you!

I live in Los Angeles, Ca and am actively looking for glass making workshops

Rob.... thank you for the phone call in response to my inquiry about my
order..... the order arrived today about 3:45PM Pacific time.... I was
delighted.... I just knew it would come today.... visited my first stained
glass shop today... made my first purchase and I was ready and waiting for
you.... then to my surprise... I had a 6 pack just screaming for me to do
something with them.....
Thank you. Evelyn Reising

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I didn't see what I am looking for, and I'm an advanced artist. Maybe you can think of a pattern I want for my sidelight. 6' high by 1' wide. I'd like something with a northwoods theme. Water, 1/2 of a white pine tree. No mountains because in WI we don't have any! Cardinal, deer, whatever in it. Anything you can think of?

Wow. And what kind of charges are involved? This would be great if I could only really narrow down what I want. It's for my own front door and I'm only going to make this bugger once!

Martha
