What
can we offer
|
We have a wonderful set of 15 designs
available in full size plots as a package or on CD-Rom.
These are from our CDesigns-1
collection and a must have for your design library. When
you purchase a plotted full size pattern, whether individually
or by the entire set, each pattern comes with a complete
material list and construction suggestions. When you select
the CD-Rom option you can plot directly from the software
at a local reprographics center.
When I pick out a pattern, to execute
in art glass, I look for a number of qualities that the
pattern must have. These qualities can vary from design
to design depending upon the theme of the pattern. For instance
when a floral theme is in mind, I look for the following:
It must excite and peak my artistic senses, I want to see
balance and symmetries, I love the chance to work with lots
of color. Cutting the glass must not be too difficult so
as to impose upon the artists ability. Like a good song
their should be a hook line, or something unique that stands
out and sets this design apart from the others.

How
The Designs Are Made |

CAD or computer
aided drafting adds a degree of accuracy that is hard to parallel.
Once you know how to talk to the program, the drawing or sketching
part becomes second nature. Our preferred choice of software
is AutoCad by Autodesk. The freedom and control is unmatched
for software in it's class. |

| For the Student |
You are going to have fun working with our designs. The
Student Patterns page was created with the student needs
in mind, such as; Patterns designed to make set up easier.
Shapes to be cut that have minimal inside tricky cuts. Rectangular
shaped small windows that allow a student to complete their
project while building his or her confidence levels.
When you purchase a student pattern from The Oak Tree you
will receive two patterns, eliminating the need for tracing,
and numbering. Many of the patterns up for sale through
our Online Autocart Shopping System are designed and suited
for the beginning or intermediate student. This is not to
say that an advanced student might not be interested in
these designs. As an artist you will determine your needs
then seek out a design to accommodate those needs. We do
have a growing library of patterns that includes a specific
section devoted just to suit the student - Student

Patterns |
As our pattern library grows so will the free
library. There just are not enough hours in the day to devote
toward this avenue. We have the ideas and the know how, now
all that's left is to make the time, and produce the designs.
This is one area we must try harder at developing.

Choosing A Pattern |
Everyone has different
tastes and needs, so keep an open mind when looking at any
designed pattern. As time advances we will be adding more
and more designs for those glass artists seeking a unique
style, based on the artists talent. The pattern design is
the heart of the work, and as such becomes the first step
in the art process.
